Southern Oregon CX Race Nov. 17 – Paul

November 21st, 2012

11.18.12: Jordan,Michelle and I raced the southern oregon CX race at the speedway in Medford on sat. This course is known for being muddy, having lots of flat tires from goat heads and people breaking derailleurs. We experienced all of this. Jordan fell twice on the slick, grassy turns and broke his derailleur in the mud section.  All on the first lap. He was disappointed he didn’t get to race the entire race but stuff happens.  I had a good start. I got to the slick, grassy section and it was entertaining watching guys sliding out and falling around the turns. I was feeling good with my awesome tubulars and my awesome skills!  Which neither of those things helped me on the second lap when I too fell in the slick, grassy turns. The muddy section where Jordan lost his derailleur I rode part way then got off and ran in hopes of preventing anything happening to my bike.  The rest of the race went without incident. I ended up 6th overall. This was the last race of the series. I ended up 3rd overall in 35+ A class. Michelle was doing well until she got a flat. She ran 3/4 of a lap with her bike to finish the race. She was 1st in her class in the series.

After t he race we took the bikes to a car wash to get the sticky, medford mud off of them.

These races are a lot of fun and all proceeds go to the Josephine county search and rescue. The people who put it on are really great people. They are well organized and wonderful folks. Everyone should think about doing some of the races next year. That’s it.

Sierra Point Night CX RR – Jordan

November 21st, 2012

11.15.12: Last saturday I drove down to the bay to do the third race of the bay area super prestige cx series. It was a night race at Sierra Point in South San Fransisco. I raced the elite men class, 50 racers made for a big field, there was always somebody around me. The coarse is way to complicated to explain turn by turn. It had pavement, grass, and dirt, with a lots, and lots, and LOTS of turns. They threw in 4 barries, two sets of stairs, and three steep pops. Really fun race. I started in the third row back after the call ups, so the top 20. Super fast start, the field axtually split up really quick, I’d say by lap 3. I felt pretty good and passed a few guys during the last 2 laps. I finished in 32nd, my goal was top 30 but I’ll get it next time. Thanks Owens!

Jarret’s Shastice Park Cx RR

November 13th, 2012

Jordan Anderson Race Report – November 11, 2012

Paul, John, Jonz, Jed, and I races Jarret’s 3rd cx today at Shastice Park. Great course with a really good turnout of racers. Grass start, ans after a few quick turns we were going up a mellow gravel/dirt climb towards the railroad tracks. Then a right turn into rolling single track, followed by a quick flowing decsent that put us out back into the park on the grass. Then we went off a little cement drop into grass followed by our choice of three short barries to the right, or one tall barrier to the left; I favored the left. Fast start, Jed grabbed the holeshot with Matt Dooley right behind. Up the grass climb, Jason decided to turn the thrusters on and chase the rabbit, then Paul blew by both of us. Into the rolling single track and dh Paul and Matt had a little gap on the field. At the end of the first lap and then up the climb, Matt made a good little gap on Paul and I, and by the end of the 3rd lap everybody was where they felt comfortable. Dooley won it, I took second, Paul right behind me, Jonz 4th, Jason 5th, John 6th, and Popey 7th. Everybody had a good time and were looking forward to.the next one! Thanks Jarret for putting it on, and thanks to Owens for the help.

Jordan Anderson Race Report – November 6, 2012

John, Paul, Michelle, and I raced this CX this weekend in Medford. Pretty good turn out, about 20-25 guys in the A class, and a really fun coarse, probably the best coarse I’ve ever ridden (but that’s just me). It had packed sand that allowed really good traction, grass, black top, gravel, and some realllllllly deep, thick sand, and the coarse was probly a mile an a half (we had 5 minute lap times). They put in two barriers, made us run up a flight of stairs, and had a log hop that easy to bunny hop, and a really steep, 10 foot long, dirt pop that was challenging. Paul started towards the front of the pack, John and I were in the middle, and when we got to the sand section which was about 30 yards long, we all had worked our way into the top 10. By lap 4 I felt like I should back it down a little bit and got passed by 3 guys, they made a pretty good gap on me by about lap 7, when I gave it my all again. by the last lap I passed all three back and was in 5th or 6th which is where I finished. We all had a great race, and some really good pizza after! I didn’t get to see Michelle’s race but she smoked all of her competition and brought home the gold. Thanks Owens for making it happen.
